Introduction

The wrinkles around your eyebrows can say a lot about your age. You can turn back the clock after having an brow lift surgery. The results can look incredibly natural and will help you fall in love with your look again.

Overview

A  brow lift  is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to elevate a drooping eyebrow, that may obstruct vision, and/or to remove the deep “worry” lines that run across the forehead.

You might choose to have a brow lift if you have a low, sagging brow or uneven brows. A brow lift might also boost your self-confidence.

A brow lift can be done alone or with other facial procedures, such as eyelid surgery or a face-lift.

Benefits of brow lift surgery

Here are some of the benefits that you can expect from your brow lift surgery:

• Smooth fine lines and wrinkles:

The area around the eyes and the forehead is usually where the first signs begin. These include crow’s feet, wrinkles, and sagging skin around the eyes. A brow lift targets this area to tighten the skin so it looks smoother without more invasive procedures like a face lift.

•Opens Up Your Eyes:

When you have creases on your eyelids and the brow area or the skin begins to sag over your eyes, it can be difficult to apply makeup, and it may even impair your vision. A brow lift can help with this by pulling the sagging skin off of your eyes and allowing them to be more open.

• Make your brows look more symmetrical:

Standards of beauty and attractiveness vary from person to person and culture to culture, but studies have found that most people associate beauty and attractiveness with more symmetrical features. In addition to fixing the most common signs of aging, a brow lift can also make your brow line look more even and symmetrical.

• Feel more confident:

If you’re unhappy with your appearance, chances are that it’s affecting your life in several negative ways, both personally and professionally. Many people choose to get cosmetic surgery procedures like a brow lift for personal fulfillment as well as aesthetic improvement.:

brow lift prepare

prepare for brow lift surgery

Your surgeon will provide thorough preoperative instructions, answer any questions you may have, take a detailed medical history, and perform a physical exam to determine your fitness for surgery, and he will ask you to stop smoking before undergoing surgery to promote better healing.

A brow lift surgery is usually an outpatient surgery. Be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery, and you should have someone to take care of you on your first night home and, if possible, the two days following surgery.

You should also plan for the recovery period by taking time off from work and ensuring that you have everything you’ll need close at hand while recovering.

steps of brow lift procedure

A brow lift procedure includes the following steps:

Step 1 – Anesthesia:

You will be given anesthesia so that you will be comfortable during the surgical procedures. Your surgeon will suggest either intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.

Step 2 – The incision:

A brow lift surgery involves making an incision across the upper scalp. This scar can be camouflaged right at the hairline from one side of the forehead to the other, or it can be one inch behind the hairline, going from ear to ear. The forehead skin and underlying tissues are then repositioned to lift the entire eyebrow and forehead. Excess skin may be trimmed at the hairline. The incision is then closed with sutures.

Step 3 – Closing the incisions:

Brow lift incisions typically are closed with:
• Removable or absorbable sutures
• Skin adhesives
• Special clips

Step 4 – See the results:

Results appear within a few weeks as swelling and bruising subside to reveal smoother forehead skin and a more youthful, rested appearance.

brow lift recovery

recovery after brow lift

After your brow lift surgery, the way that you recover will vary based on the type of brow lift surgery you had.

Your surgeon will close your incisions with stitches or staples that will either dissolve or need removed after one or two weeks. It’s common and normal to have bruising and swelling on your forehead and face.

For at least two days after surgery, you should keep your head elevated to reduce swelling. This includes when you sleep. The swelling will go down within two weeks but it may take several weeks for all of it to go away. Cool packs (not ice) help with swelling. Don’t place cool packs directly on your forehead. Instead, place them on the side of your face to avoid irritating your surgery site.

The bandages are usually removed one to three days after surgery. You may feel a numbness or tingling sensation during the first few days after surgery, but this usually fades over time.

Risks and complications of brow lift

The decision to have plastic surgery is extremely personal. You will have to decide if the surgery will achieve your goals and if the risks and potential complications of a brow lift are acceptable.

You will be asked to sign consent forms to ensure that you fully understand the procedure and any risks and potential complications.
Brow lift surgery risks include:

• Bleeding:

Excessive bleeding can occur during or after surgery.

• Infection:

Infections at the incision sites are possible.

• Adverse reactions to anesthesia:

Some individuals react poorly to anesthesia, causing complications.

Results

By raising the soft tissue and skin of your forehead and brow, a brow lift can give your face a more youthful appearance. Brow lift results won’t last forever. As you age your facial skin might begin to droop again. Sun damage also can age your skin.
